Digital Cameras for 3D Designers
Digital cameras for 3D designers might sound like a form of wishful thinking or some sort of science fiction movie technology that is still
years away from actual use. In reality 3D digital cameras have been around for quite some time but, until recently, were only used by large
corporations and the government.
Now digital cameras for 3D designers that are affordable, and available, are quickly becoming a reality. The digital cameras most of us are
familiar with only take photographs in 2D. This is fine for the average designer, photographer, and individual but this can be a pain for
3D designers.
Using standard digital cameras a 3D designer must use the picture to painstakingly recreate a 3D model for whatever use is required.
This can take a lot of time and man hours that some businesses cannot afford. Also there is always the chance for human error which can
cause many details to be overlooked or left out because of lack of time and other stumbling blocks.
The 3D digital camera Digitalkameras can dramatically decrease the physical work of 3D designers in a few seconds. These portable
cameras can be used to create 3D images which can be used in demonstrations and presentations. Until now the only way to have a 3D image
for a presentation or demonstration was to take time and make one.
Now a 3D designer can have a 3D image with the push of a button on a 3D digital camera.
These cameras have existed for years but have not been available to the public. Most of the early 3D digital cameras were so large and
bulky that they would only be useful in a few locations which would limit there usability and convenience.
Also, these early 3D digital cameras were so expensive that the average small business couldn’t justify the expense and the average consumer
simply couldn’t afford one for casual use.
Now several companies are beginning to make 3D digital cameras for consumers that are reasonably priced and portable. A few years ago a
company began working on making a more cost friendly digital camera for 3D designers. There first model weight approximately 12 pounds and
could only be used indoors.
It also had a price tag of $5000.00. While the price, size, and use left a lot to be desired this was till leaps and bounds above what
was currently on the market.
Quite a few companies could budget the $5,000.00 necessary and were able to take the digital camera to use in various indoor presentations and
demonstrations.
The 3D digital camera works by projecting light to create an actual 3D image. The image is captured in less than a second making it
comparable to standard digital cameras.
Several big name camera companies are researching and developing more portable 3D digital cameras for 3D designers which are much less
expensive and far more portable.
Many rumors are flying on internet camera forums about the latest models of many cameras scheduled for release this year having 3D imaging
capabilities.
